Images 2.6 generates images 50% faster than before and can finely edit targeted areas while preserving the unique characteristics of characters and products. It also supports creating GIF animations and sketch-based character implementation, allowing users to add motion to brand mascots and product images and create memes, reaction images, and animation storyboards for video production, as well as turn simple sketches into animated characters for videos or games. Images 2.6 is available across all ChatGPT and Codex plans on desktop, mobile, and the web. Image generation and editing features were also added to the API for developers, offering "GPT-Image-2.6 Flare," focused on fast generation, and "GPT-Image-2.6 Sunburst," which improves quality and precision. With Flare, when quality is set to "low," an image can be generated in as little as 6 seconds, and layout rendering for posters and product images has been improved. Sunburst generates more detailed images at "medium" or "high" quality settings and increases consistency during editing. The API's editing features were enhanced with an "image markup" feature for specifying areas to modify and exporting finished designs as SVG, plus a "complexity" setting that adjusts how much planning the model performs.
