SK hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung said memory demand will remain high as the AI industry grows, speaking at the company's "2026 Global Forum" held on the 18th (local time) in Santa Clara, California, according to SK hynix on the 21st. The forum, hosted annually since 2012, drew SK hynix executives including President Kwak and Ahn Hyun, head of development (president), along with AI and semiconductor experts and research teams from major U.S. universities. Under the theme "Share the Vision, Shape the Future, Together," it featured a keynote, a panel discussion, and small seminars. Kwak said, "AI as an industry cannot exist without memory," and that after setting a new milestone with HBM, the company will open new possibilities for AI through next-generation memory. He introduced plans for the Yongin semiconductor cluster, a production base in Indiana, and a global AI R&D center in the United States, saying new global production bases and research foundations will safeguard the company's technological edge and market dominance. A panel discussion themed "At the inflection point of technology, opening the next chapter of memory" included Vice President Kim Hyeong-su, in charge of DRAM design; Vice President Lee Jae-won, in charge of AI interface; Vice President Lee Kang-uk, in charge of package development; and Vice President Kim Ho-sik, in charge of memory system research.
