Siri AI also won't currently work for anyone with an Apple Account based in mainland China. The piece says both markets account for a significant chunk of Apple's total sales, earning hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue from the EU and China, yet customers there cannot experience the headline AI innovations in the iPhone Duo. It attributes this to regulation rather than unwillingness, noting EU rules require competing voice assistants to have the same deep device access as Siri. By contrast, Samsung's open approach lets Google's Gemini do the heavy lifting in Galaxy AI, with Samsung's own device models in a supporting role and Perplexity improving Bixby, achieving near universal availability.
