Big Tech companies are accelerating their push into the coding AI tools market, with Meta releasing its first AI coding agent, Muse Code, in beta form. Google is discussing a deal worth about $1.5 billion involving AI coding startup Mechanize, seeking a non-exclusive licence for its technology and hiring some model evaluation and development staff. Amazon Web Services launched Kiro Crew, an autonomous workspace where an AI coding agent works while developers are away, assigning multi-step tasks to multiple agents and sub-agents. Some companies using a lot of AI are building in-house coding AI tools. Chinese companies are also moving faster, with ByteDance developing an AI model with up to 10 trillion parameters, possibly close in scale to Anthropic’s Mythos system. Alibaba Group made its new flagship model Qwen3.8-Max available via an API, setting prices lower than Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3. Chinese AI startup DeepSeek invested 140.8 million yuan ($20.8 million) in robotics company Unitree and agreed to jointly develop an AI model for humanoid robots. Chinese AI companies are closing the gap with the United States in performance and adoption speed, but the U.S. maintains a big edge in cutting-edge chips, computing resources, fundraising, and talent recruitment. LG AI Research said its models EXAONE Tabular and EXAONE Forecast each achieved the world’s best performance on global leaderboards.
