Google is testing an AI-focused homepage interface for visitors who are not logged into an account. The trial replaces the traditional Google Search button with three AI prompts: Create images, Ask about files and Brainstorm. An AI Mode toggle now appears inside the main search bar, while the legacy I’m Feeling Lucky button remains in its usual position. During independent testing across web browsers including stable builds of Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Perplexity’s Comet, the brainstorming and document analysis features worked for signed-out visitors. The document tool adds a plus-symbol icon in the search box, allowing file uploads and anonymous queries. The brainstorm shortcut generates a text prompt for immediate generative answers. However, the image generation function requires users to log in before rendering visual content. The layout is linked to user session states: when a user authenticates, the three AI shortcuts vanish and the standard search interface returns; logging out restores the generative tools. Google has not formally announced the scope of this update. The altered interface is likely part of a limited server-side test, which could be restricted by geographic location, browser session or specific account flags.
