Google announced the General Availability (GA) of AlphaEvolve on Google Cloud, an AI system built by Google DeepMind that uses Gemini models with an evolutionary optimization framework to automatically discover better algorithms. Instead of simply writing code, AlphaEvolve generates multiple algorithmic solutions, benchmarks them, selects the best-performing implementations, and evolves future generations of algorithms automatically. Google highlighted real-world results: AlphaEvolve generated optimized GPU kernels for the Frontier supercomputer; researchers used it to discover new quantum error-correction schemes; working with Schrödinger, it accelerated machine-learned molecular simulations by up to 4×; and it improved forecasting models while reducing runtime by 90%.
