Andrej Karpathy, founder at Eureka Labs, OpenAI cofounder, and former director of AI at Tesla, said he built an AI agent named "Dobby the Elf Claw" to control his home. In an interview released on Friday on the "No Priors" podcast, Karpathy stated the system controls all of his lights, HVAC, shades, the pool, the spa, and the security system. He said Dobby helped remove six separate apps from his phone by combining them into one. Karpathy also uses the system to track deliveries, stating it sends a text to his WhatsApp with an image from outside when a FedEx truck arrives. He noted that Dobby connects to devices on his home's local network, meaning those systems are not directly accessible from the internet. Karpathy posted on Wednesday that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had gifted him a DGX Station, powered by a GB300 superchip designed for agentic AI workloads, which he said would serve as a home for Dobby.
